Bread menu for week c/o 28 September 2020

25/9/2020

Well, the equinox has come and gone and we certainly have felt the bite of the autumn wind on our unprepared skin! I think we can put away the summer stuff and bring back the woolie jumpers. A few changes at the bakery too which I'll explain alongside the menu below:

Wild West Tuesday is back with Wild West in standard or large size (do specify which). Please note NEW CUTOFF time for ordering  by Sunday 5PM please.

Friday & Saturday: Wild West in large size only, Pan Marino (there probably will be a limit on how many I can make so put in your order early if you want one), Barley & Ale.
Friday only: my Lincs plum bread.
Please order by Wednesday 5PM.

Please note that honey is back on sale and can be added to any bread order.

People collecting from my collection box: I will no longer send a text to say bread is ready for collection because with so many of you I was getting in a tangle. So all loaves for collection will be placed in the box by 5PM of your collection day. I will only text if there's a problem so no text is good news.

Enjoy the weekend and see you next week!

Bread menuĀ  for week c/o 21 Sept 2020

19/9/2020

Good morning all

It feels like September is bringing back the old routine (all kids back at school in some form - yayy!) and new things we are all going to have to cope with. For me it's quite mundane: I just need to suss out how to juggle the new desk job, the baking and normal day-to-day life that also takes time! Didnt quite cut it last week but I'm sure it's nothing that bad weather wont sort out!! I'll try again this week and here is my simple and pared down menu:

Tuesday is just Pan Marino this week. It comes in one size only. Order by Monday 1PM please

Friday and Saturday: Wild West in large size only, Black and White Sesame and Olive & Rosemary. Order by Wednesday 5PM please

Have a good weekend!

Can you hear my Pan Marino cracking as the crust cools down? The smell of these when they bake fills the whole bakery and ground flour of the house. Rosemary, olive oil and honey: nothing can go wrong with that combination! I got some great feedback on these this week, which always makes my day. Thank you dear customers and special thank to my rosemary purveyor!

Dear All

As September unfolds with its full complement of important dates, anniversaries and birthdays (eldest turning 18 on Tuesday!!!), I have slipped back into my usual 3 bakes per week routine and enjoyed an almost full week last week with 52 loaves. Thanks to all of you who have come back to West Street Bakehouse after your holiday or have tried our bread for the first time.

This week we will have:

Wild West Tuesday with both Wild West and Wild West 50% wholemeal, both come in standard or large size and are different prices so please do check if you are a prepay customer.
Order by Monday 1PM.

Friday & Saturday: Wild West (standard or large, please specify), 3–grain and Fig & Fennel.
Friday only: my Cornish Saffron bread
Order by Wednesday 5PM.

Still no rye starter emerging hence no Rugbrod or NYDR this week and I'm planning to fetch more honey towards the end of the month. Do bear with me on both fronts.

Have a good week and see some of you soon.

6 beautiful Wild West loaves this morning, bathing in the Sept sun. And yes this is all Real Bread, perfect for Sourdough September

Mix for the Fig & Fennel, the most fragrant of preps

Have been using my round bannetons for the standard size WW recently and they turn out the most prefect little boules - on the right the Friday crowd getting a disorderly cool down

Bread menu for next week (c/o 7 Sept 2020)

5/9/2020

We are back in full swing next week with the menu below.

My big news is that I'm going back to my part-time freelance desk job so the period where baking was my sole paid occupation has gone full circle and come to its natural end (I stopped taking freelance work this time last year). There's a silver lining in everything and I wouldnt have taken the work on if I didnt fancy it; hopefully there will be no change for the bakery but I might have to strealine a few things to keep it going without losing my sanity: simpler menus, probably fewer new breads than in the recent months.

Anyway, here's what's baking this week:

Wild West Tuesday with Wild West in standard or large size (please say which when ordering). Order deadline is Monday 1PM.

Friday & Saturday:  as Tuesday plus Walnut bread and Black and White Sesame.
Friday only: my Lincs plum bread.
Order deadline is Wednesday 5PM.

Have a good week and hopefully see you soon x
Emma & Jules
