This is February already so I hope that those of you who were keeping away from carbs will be back for some tasty bread this week when we have: Wild West Tuesday with Wild West 70% wholemeal in standard or large size (please specify which you want when ordering). Ordering deadline: Monday 1PM. Friday & Saturday: Barley & Ale; Wild West in standard or large size (please specify which you want when ordering). Friday only: my Lincs plum bread. Saturday customers can choose one of these but it'll have been baked on the previous afternoon (and wrapped up when cooled down to stay as fresh as possible). Order deadline for Friday & Saturday: Wednesday 5PM. Comberton customers: if you are happy to collect your bread rather than me delivering it please let me know. As I'm adding more and more customers, it's becoming really difficult to manage to deliver everyone in time. I can arrange to have the breads ready by a certain time (within reason and in most cases it'll have to be after 2PM on Tuesday and Friday, 11AM on Saturday) so that collection might fit with your errands in the village or your home going time. I apologise for the erratic supply of bread during January but I need to catch up on that missed trip to my parents in December due to the 'grève générale'! As previously announced and due to home visit I'll only be baking sourdough bread on Tuesday this week. Exceptionally I will bake on Thursday but from a very limited menu (of 1!). No bread on Tuesday 9 December either. All back to normal after that until my Xmas break: I will be baking up to Xmas eve and shut until first bake back on 7 January 2020, more details to follow soon. Wild West Tuesday: I will be baking both Wild West AND Wild West 70% wholegrain, available in standard and large size as per product description. The Tuesday service is a no cash and delivery only service. This means that to order you are either an existing customer on a tab or you are a new customer able to prepay for your loaf by the time you order. Delivery-only means that I'll deliver your bread to a safe place at your house in Comberton: a safe place is one I can easily access at the front of your house and which is shielded from the elements, ie a shoe box in an open front porch. I dont do dogs so if you have roaming animals please leave your box/plastic bag near or on your fence. Thursday: my Lincs plum bread only. I'll deliver between 4-6PM or you can collect from my house between the same times (I have a box as well which I leave at the front of the house). Here is what we have this week: Wild West Tuesday: Wild West with 70% wholegrain in Standard or Large size Friday and Saturday: Black & White sesame, Lemon & Barley (slightly sweet bread with a bit of honey as well as lemon peel and juine, goes well with smoked fish etc; uses a mix of wholegrain barley flour for a bit of variety to your tastebuds and microbiome). Welcome back to West Street Bakehouse and your weekly supply of sourdough bread in Comberton! A warm welcome to those people who are receiving this email for the first time. I hope you'll enjoy your loaves in the coming weeks and being part of our small but expanding bread community in the West of Cambridge. A few changes to the business from this week on: 1/ baking days will be Tuesday, Friday and Saturday every week with deadlines for Tuesday bread on Monday LUNCHTIME and Wednesday LUNCHTIME for bread on Friday and Saturday. 2/ Tuesdays will be called Wild West Tuesdays because I'll offer one of two sourdough breads each week: Wild West (white-ish sourdough) one week, Wild West 70% wholegrain the other week, etc. Both available as standard (550g+) or large loaves (900g+). Tuesday customers will need a safe place for me to leave the bread and go on my tab system where I keep an online tab for your purchases (which you can see and check) and you pay me in arrears when invoiced, once or twice a month depending on how often you buy breads. So this is a no cash and collection only system. 3/ I will offer 2 fancier sourdough breads on Fridays and Saturdays, either a heritage and seedy one, or a seedy one and nutty one, etc. I will keep a very limited capacity for Wild Wests at the end of the week (probably all on Saturday) for those of you who will eat nothing but plain sourdough but my idea long term really is to move all Wild West baking on Tuesdays. I will deliver bread around 7PM on Fridays and 12noon on Saturdays. Collections are still possible on prior arrangement (5-7PM on Fridays and around 1130am on Saturdays). 4/ Lincolnshire plumb bread and other yeasted things, or sweet sourdough breads like the chocolate sourdough, will remain on the Friday menu. No changes there. The above is to streamline my process and make sure I can expand the business on my own whilst keeping sane and healthy and carry on baking for the years to come! Any question please let me know. An early warning that I'm also planning to go cashless in 2020. Keep your eyes peeled for the bread menu email which will follow soon. Nice and early this is the menu for next week (c/o 5 August 2019). We will bake for the last time before our 3-week break so the menu is tailored to finish off some ingredients and start with fresh stock in September.
